VenueCue™
Compare

More than requests. Run the night.

VenueCue™ connects planning, guest demand, your live running order, supported DJ software, mobile control, audience displays and event history. Here is how that compares with the tools DJs and KJs ask us about — including where they are the better fit.

Based on publicly documented features, reviewed October 2026. Products change; check each one’s own site before you decide.

Different centers of gravity

These tools overlap, but they start in different places.

NoSongRequests

Requests and fan engagement: tips, bookings, promotion, and strong request hand-off into DJ software.

Vibo

Planning, especially for weddings: client collaboration, timelines, questionnaires and music prep.

DJ Intelligence

Business and CRM: leads, quotes, contracts, payments, staff and broad client management.

StepChique

Line-dance community and discovery: venues, events, dancers and dance tracking.

VenueCue™

Music and event operation: it connects planning decisions to the live night and to supported playback software.

The idea underneath

A Set List is not a Playlist.

Set List: what might be played. The material you plan for a venue or event.
Playlist: what is actually coming next. The running order for tonight.

Guest requests and their counts show you what the room wants against the Set List, and you decide what moves into the Playlist. Keeping the two apart is what lets demand shape the night without taking it over, and it is what makes the history afterwards mean something.

Plan → Demand → Set List → Playlist → Playback → Display → History

Each step hands its information to the next, so the Played history can say what was planned, what was requested and what actually happened.

Playback is not just an export

Working with your DJ software during the event.

Preparing music before the night is valuable, and several tools here do it well. Bringing requests into your software is valuable too. The Playback Bridge adds a third thing: it runs on your own computer and works with supported software while the event is happening. How much it can do depends on how open your software is, so it is not the same for everyone.

VirtualDJ — the deepest

Search and match your library, load the exact track and confirm it landed, play, pause, rewind and set tempo with read-back, read the decks, detect what was audible, fill Automix, and hand over a karaoke rotation. Played is marked from what was genuinely on air.

Mixxx

Play, pause, cue, tempo and keylock, with deck, mixer and on-air state reported back. Mixxx cannot be handed a specific track, so you load the music and VenueCue drives and confirms it.

djay Pro

Match and import your djay library, play, pause, cue, eject and set tempo, and show what djay has loaded. You load the track by hand, and djay does not report its mixer, so VenueCue shows what djay started instead of marking it Played for you.

Against NoSongRequests: its documented VirtualDJ workflow brings audience requests into VirtualDJ’s Ask The DJ folder; VenueCue’s Bridge also takes part in loading, controlling and reading back playback. For djay Pro, NoSongRequests documents a streaming-playlist workflow that you open in djay; VenueCue adds transport and tempo control and shows what djay has loaded. For Serato, NoSongRequests documents request crates with requester details, a genuine strength that VenueCue does not match yet.

Serato, Traktor and rekordbox are in development and untested; see what works with your software. NoSongRequests documents its own Serato and VirtualDJ request delivery; we did not find it documenting live deck control.

Built for DJs who leave the booth

Your laptop can stay in the booth. You don’t have to.

This is for every DJ and KJ, not just line dancing. From a phone you can work the Set List and the live Playlist, respond to requests, mark items Played or Skipped, and use the playback controls your software supports. For line-dance instruction, teach from the floor and keep tempo control in your hand. Playback commands travel to your booth computer, which keeps VenueCue running.

Line dance

Line dance: structured knowledge, not just a mode.

VenueCue links a dance to its choreography version and choreographer, to the songs it is done to, to alternate songs, and to your own preferences and the songs guests may pick. CopperKnob stepsheet links and pre-start counts (where the choreographer states one) ride along. All of it runs through requests, the Playlist, playback and history. NoSongRequests and StepChique also serve line dancing well in their own ways; the difference is depth of data and workflow, not exclusivity.

Honestly

Where the alternatives may be the better fit.

Choose NoSongRequests if…

Audience monetization, tipping, bookings, ticket and merch promotion and fan marketing matter most, and you want a mature request-engagement ecosystem.

Choose Vibo if…

Your priority is a polished wedding and client planning experience: timelines, forms, collaboration and music prep.

Choose DJ Intelligence if…

You need to run the business: leads, quotes, contracts and e-signatures, payments, staff and planning forms.

Choose StepChique if…

You are mainly a dancer, instructor or venue looking for line-dance discovery, community features and dance tracking.

Choose VenueCue™ if…

You want the music plan, crowd demand and live performance connected: Set Lists, Playlist, supported playback control, phone operation, displays and history.

Many DJs will reasonably use more than one of these.

History

The event teaches you something.

VenueCue records what was played, at which venue and event, and how often it was requested. Pro Reports show top dances and songs by month and location. That helps with questions like what worked at this venue, what guests ask for, what actually gets played, and what to raise with a client building a music plan. Using that history to recommend Set Lists is something we want to build; it is not in the product today.

Don’t just collect requests. Run the event.
